Social Studies.

What grade (s) do you teach?

10,11, & 12th.

How long have you been teaching at SASD?

This is my first year here! but my 6th year teaching overall.

What is one important lesson you have learned as an educator?

BE FLEXIBLE!

What do you find most surprising about your job?

How often kids’ lingo changes… I thought I was hip and happening before teaching teenagers. Now I feel “fried” or “Cooked” OR WHATEVER YOU GUYS SAY, lol!

Is there anything you wish you had known as a first-year teacher?

Always be prepared for a global pandemic! YA NEVER KNOW!

What is your favorite part about teaching?

Learning about my students and learning WITH them.

If you could teach another subject what would it be and why?

PHYS ED! I feel like it would be fun!!

What is one piece of advice you would share with your students?

Be kind & be present. I know it’s simple, but the world really needs it right now.

What is your favorite quote and what does it mean to you?

“It’s okay not to know, but it’s not okay not to find out” This is a quote I live by. We all have so much to learn and it’s okay to make errors or not know along the way, but your knowledge is truly in your hands. So take advantage and never let something you don’t know about, be something you never know about. Take responsibility and work to find it out! Stay curious!

If you could have one superpower what would it be and why?

Time-traveling! Is that even a superpower? Lol, I’m a history nerd and would love to experience so many different time periods.
